Jim McGrath is a Research Software Engineer (RSE), currently working on enhancements to the lab’s web portals. Jim is focussed on helping the lab communicate their research effectively to the general public at the same time as providing useful tools to researchers and clinicians.

Jim has worked in a range of IT support and software development jobs since graduating in Religious Studies in the late ’90s. He completed a Masters in Computer Science in 2006, and since then has largely worked in higher education. Jim joined Newcastle University from the University of Manchester, where he had been an RSE for four years.

When he gets away from his computer Jim enjoys playing board games, cooking, and cycling.
